NEWTON INAUGURATES NEW MAYOR -

BOARD OF ALDERMEN ELECT NEW PRESIDENT

JANUARY 1, 2010 - The City of Newton started the new year and the new decade with a rousing celebration at City Hall, marking the inauguration of the new mayor, Setti Warren. For its part, the Board of Aldermen elected a new president, selecting Scott Lennon, currently the Ward Alderman from Ward 1. Marcia was duly sworn in for the new term along with her colleagues. Numerous changes were made in committee assignments, and Marcia will have some new responsibilities as a result.

SETTI WARREN ELECTED MAYOR!

After waging a vigourous, well-run campaign, Setti was elected Mayor of Newton last Tuesday. At his first press conference Friday, November 6th, Setti announced the members of his Transition Team, who will be helping him form his administration and ensure that he can be effective starting on Day One.

Marcia was tapped to head the HR effort, along with Neil Silverston, who served on the Citizens Advisory Group. Marcia and Neil will be pulling together a small team to work on human resource issues, including staffing and performance management processes. Additional news and information about the transition can be found on Setti's website, here.

MARCIA SUPPORTS SETTI WARREN FOR MAYOR OF NEWTON

The Newton municipal election on November 3rd has become a pivotal one for the city, with many important races: for Mayor, the Board of Aldermen, and the School Committee.

Marcia and Peg Hannigan, the "Godmother of Newton Politics," have been out campaigning with Setti in the race for Mayor of Newton.

Marcia is campaigning hard for Ward 2 'native son' Setti Warren, because she believes Newton is at a critical decision point and Setti is the best person to lead Newton as Mayor in these very difficult and challenging times. For more information, you can contact Marcia or go to Setti's web site, www.settiwarren.com. Newton needs new leadership and Setti is the person to make it happen!
